Inspiring landscapes and wildlife

The dramatic 165-mile coastline of Aberdeenshire is an undiscovered gem bursting with wildlife, sweeping beaches and unbeatable scenery. Witness the homecoming return of thousands of gannets as they return to their roosts at RSPB Troup Head, near Pennan - the biggest mainland gannet colony in the UK. See seabirds nesting on cliff ledges at the Bullers of Buchan near Cruden Bay and at RSPB Fowlsheugh near Stonehaven. Spot colourful king eider ducks and basking seals on the Ythan Estuary or dolphins and whales off the Banffshire and East Grampian coasts.  Inland in Royal Deeside, look out for soaring golden eagles, scurrying red squirrels and magnificent red deer - the monarchs of the glen.
