We're off to Vintage!

Stylist Kiera Buckley-Jones is busy sourcing items to sell at the H&A Vintage Bazaar which will be at Vintage at the Southbank festival from 29th-31st July

Here at H&A we love a challenge and have been thinking for many months about what we would like to do at this year's Vintage festival, which is moving from the fields of the Goodwood estate to a site at London's Southbank. So, drum roll please, we have come up with H&A's Vintage Bazaar!

How could we convey our love of all things vintage, and collecting and sourcing treasures, we asked ourselves? Bring our finds to the festival and sell them alongside carefully chosen vintage 'makes' in our very own shop, of course.

So a few weeks ago, H&A editor Angela and I went on a road trip across Somerset to find some unwanted gems, with one aim: to rescue them from the unappreciated and rehouse them with new fans.
We visited auction houses, charity shops, markets and friends' house sales for possible stock.
You’ll have to visit our stand in the vintage marketplace, which will be by the Royal Festival Hall and free to the public, to see what we have to offer, but expect Beefeater steak plates and an original Festival of Britain decanter among other delights.
The Vintage Bazaar will also give us the opportunity to showcase the products of Folly & Glee, Something Fine, In the Parlour and Jane Foster.
I’ll be continuing to source pieces for our stall and will keep you updated with how I get on.
We have another exciting project at the festival, too. For the ticketed space within the Royal Festival Hall, which will be the venue for all the performances and clubs during the festival, the classic book retailer Foyles will be selling first editions as well as a specially edited selection of books.
As this is Vintage, this won’t be any old book shop, but rather a mid-century study/library, complete with coffee table and a comfy chair in a Don Draper-esque surrounding. I’ve been asked to ‘vintage up’ the space in a similar fashion to the H&A 1950s room set in the Museum of '51. Also, you'll be able to find the Homes & Antiques bumper vintage special in this space as well as in the Southbank shop and the main Foyles store.
Neighbouring the Foyles set, I’m excited to announce, will be the Tupperware Man, who will be holding Tupperware parties in his 1950s kitchen.
