Kirstie Allsopp tells us why Britain's antiques shops will be getting her vote this National Antiques Week
To celebrate National Antiques Week (14th-21st November), Homes & Antiques magazine is on a quest to find the best antiques businesses in the country with the Britain's Best Antiques Shops awards.
Property expert Kirstie Allsopp is a massive fan of antiques and has agreed to be spokesperson for our campaign. Her father is a former chairman of Christie's, her mother has worked as an interior decorator, and her mother-in-law owns the wonderful Lacquer Chest antiques shop in London.
'Buying antiques and vintage is about getting beautiful, unique, green things for your home but also about respecting the environment and being sensible with your money,' she says. 'I know that if everything went belly up tomorrow I could sell the contents of my house for considerably more than I paid for it – and I couldn’t say that if I’d bought new.'
