Alice Roberton visits new Homes & Antiques agent Jacquie Robinson on her home territory
The Kitsch & Stitch Vintage & Makers Fair
in Cranbrook, Kent has a great mix of beautiful handcrafts, gorgeous textiles, pretty trimmings and vintage wares. I’d been trying to fit this fair into my schedule for quite some time and jumped at the chance to go and lend a hand to new Homes & Antiques
agent Jacquie Robinson. It was great to see Jacquie in action as she signed up new subscribers while flying the H&A
flag in fabulous spring style.
Two newly signed up subscribers were Dawn Curwood and Chris Cantrelle from nearby Maidstone. ‘We’ve been reading the magazine for years but the offer of five issues for £5 was too good an opportunity to miss!’ said Chris.
Fair organisers Suzie Sharp
and Deborah Good
started Kitsch & Stitch in 2011 and are now running four events a year. ‘We have a loyal following,’ said Deborah.
The All Things Vintage & Beautiful
stand was looking as enticing as ever - I always love the gorgeous colours and seasonal theming that Judy and Stephen Newman choose for their displays.
Tracy Beard of the Floral Emporium is applying her years of experience as a florist to create these delightful, everlasting bouquets using old buttons.
This fair was packed full of inspirational and talented makers, all of whom have their own style. Marti Murchison
of Canterbury is a trained embroiderer who enjoys marrying her love of vintage, in particular 1930s florals, with her passion for embroidery.
Amanda Howard (left) of Maygreen Fairies
makes magical ephemera-inspired stationery, love tokens and jewellery. She was trading next to maker Serena Welch, who is starting a co-operative from a barn on her farm in nearby Tenterden called ‘Make It Mums’. 'I will be running workshops as well as providing space for local women to unleash their creativity,’ Serena told me.
The next Kitsch & Stitch
will be on 15th June at The Vestry Hall, Cranbrook, Kent.
Homes & Antiques will be visiting the following fairs this month:
Saturday 23rd March, 11am-3pm - Vintage In The Park
, Abington Park Museum, Park Avenue South, Northampton
