Set in the splendid Grade II-listed Henley-on-Thames town hall, which was built in the early 1900s, Henley Vintage Fair is a delight, offering everything from 1920s dresses to nostalgic gifts. The H&A stand was visited by many readers, including one from as far afield as New Zealand and many items used in our autumn/winter features were snapped up by those with a keen eye.

I caught up with co-organiser Sadie Boon who had just sold this fabulous 1950s faux fur swing coat to Renee Sears (pictured left). ‘I’ve been looking for a swing coat for ages and have surprised myself by buying one in leopard print, but I’m going to love it!’ said Renee. Sadie runs fairs, parties, events and a gorgeous shop in Bracknell called British Eccentric, with business partner Berni Bailes.

Occupying one corner of the powder blue and white hall was Tea Vintage serving the most inspiring selection of teas and imaginatively decorated cakes. Marie Finch (pictured right) opened her business a year ago and has enjoyed a busy year setting up shop at festivals and events.

I had a good chat with Vicky Kay from New Zealand who was resting her legs while enjoying a cream tea and a good read of the November issue of H&A. ‘I always read Homes & Antiques at home,’ she said.

Subscriber Rochelle Boyer, who had taken advantage of a 2-for-1 entry offer for the fair in the October issue, paid a visit to the H&A stand. Rochelle, originally from the USA, started subscribing 12 years ago when she and her husband were living in Europe. She told me how the magazine has helped them develop their passion for art nouveau and provide them with inspirational ideas for their home in nearby Bourne End.

Someone else who loves travel is Kate Todd of Connell & Todd, who produces gifts using travel designs from the early 20th century and is currently supplying The National Trust.

It was cosy coats all round as I invested in a lovely faux fur coat to keep me warm while I’m on the road over the winter months, as did this happy customer at Ruby Vintage. Bring on the winter!
