Alice Roberton heads to Hampshire for a day of vintage inspiration
The Vintage Bazaar brought its wonderful offering to the Hampshire countryside for the first time last Saturday giving a new crowd the chance of some fine shopping. Despite heading into new territory there were still many familiar faces. Co-organiser Lizzie Van Hasselt and I stopped by to admire Chloe Antique's gorgeous stand bearing early Christmas gifts such as charming felted animals, linen cushions and diamante hair clips.

Jill Gibbons of Rosiebud Decorative Vintage is another regular on the vintage scene and had travelled up from Tiverton in Devon. Her stand was looking as lovely as ever.

On my rounds I also caught up with Ali Hocking of Betty and Violet who sells delicate vintage textiles, treasures from the past and handmade loveliness. Ali is organising The Vintage Christmas Boutique at Woburn Abbey on the 15th of November. H&A will be there offering vintage inspiration so pop the date in your diary now so as not to miss out.

Gillian Griffith came and visited the stand to tell me about her business Les Jolies Choses which gives old furniture a new lease of life, ‘I work from Viables Craft Centre in nearby Basingstoke which hosts 14 small craft and design-related businesses and services. It’s a great place,’ said Gillian. She had just bought these cute hand-painted light shades from Theo & Bernice to give as a gift.

So off I went to visit Theo and Bernice myself and was greeted by this adorable little display. I just love everything about it; the Russian dolls, the chipped paintwork and the vintage lace spilling out of tiny cardboard drawers. Perfect.

I had a good browse of the Acorn & Will stand and a chat to Daniella Smith who self-assembles her fabulous collection of vintage inspired resin accessories. Some of her autumn/winter lines are adorable, such as little squirrels, deer and owls.

I love the friendliness of these events and the great support organisers and traders show each other, it really makes the world of vintage such a joy to be a part of. Pictured above is Clare Powell, co-organiser of The Vintage Bazaar, chatting to Jackie Couzens who organises arts, crafts and antiques fair the Windsor Emporium. H&A will be at Jackie's fair in Windsor on 7th October.
