Enjoy an antiques extravaganza in the Devon town this week 


West Country antiques hotspot Honiton, where craft guru Kirstie Allsopp likes to go antiquing, is pulling out all the stops this week as dealers in the town hold an antiques extravaganza. The Honiton Antiques Festival takes place from 12th-17th November. After the success of the festival’s debut last year, it promises to be an unmissable event with a full programme of free exhibitions, fairs, open days, talks, lunchtime concerts, auctions, viewings, lace-making demonstrations and valuations.
Highlights include a Clarice Cliff exhibition at Lombard Antiques (14 High Street; 01404 42140), an exhibition of Gypsy books, prints, manuscripts and ephemera at Graham York Rare Books (225 High Street; 01404 41727), pictured, a vintage hornby train display at Antique & Chic (Unit 3, Dolphin Court; 01404 758082) and the Textiles & Costume Fair -Antique to Vintage 1950 at Mackerness Hall (01647 231459; hysonfairsltd.co.uk) on 17th November. Chilcotts Auctioneers & Valuers (Silver Street; 01404 47783) is also holding a guided talk entitled 'A Beginner's Guide to Buying at Auction' on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th November.
