Your nostalgic photos

Thank you to everyone who sent us their favourite pictures. Here's a selection.

We asked you to send in your favourite nostalgic pictures in response to our Photographic Memories feature in the March issue of Homes & Antiques. We’ve loved looking at them but sadly didn’t have room to include every picture in the May issue, out now. We thought we would share a few more of your fantastic pictures here - enjoy!

Anna Badman sent in this delightful snap of children gathered around a car - she believes it was one of the only motors in the neighbourhood at the time, possibly belonging to the baker.

'When we knew our neighbours,' says Anna, who says this is a picture of a lady called Hilda chatting over the wall to another woman named Lizzie Thomas

Gwenda Pandolfi sent us these shots of her with her brother Peter at the beach in Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex (left) and in Chanham near Upminster scavenging for firewood with a taboggan in 1942 (right)

Joy Jenner's mum is the girl on the left end of the table pulling a face. She was at a street party celebrating the end of World War I.

Joy Jenner's husband's grandfather (left) used to ride his pennyfarthing to see his girlfriend, who became his wife. Pictured on the right is Joy's mother and aunt, dressed in their Charleston dresses in the 1920s. 'I know this is in a distressed condition, but I treasure it,' says Joy.

The men of Julie Stilwell's family in their Sunday best pose for a photograph in a garden in Hertfordshire. Her father is the man with the odd choice of footwear. 'When asked why he was wearing socks and sandals, he said he must have hurt one of his big toes at work!' says Julie.

Christine Holdforth discovered this picture (a small negative) the day her father passed away in 2000. The photograph was taken in India at the end of World War II. 'The men who were stationed out there adopted this cub but I'm not sure if it is a leopard or a cheetah,' she says. 'It's such a lovely image and my sister and brother each have a copy too.'
