Northampton Vintage Jumble

H&A kicks off the new year with some fast-paced vintage jumbling in Northampton

H&A ambassador Alice Roberton kicks off the new year with some fast-paced vintage jumbling in Northampton
After the Christmas break it was back on the road again for some more vintage adventuring up and down the country. The Northampton Vintage Jumble offered a great start to 2013, with a hall packed full of jolly traders relishing the opportunity for a clearout plus plenty of customers looking for a bargain or two. We enjoyed three hours of non-stop shopping, tea-drinking and signing up new subscribers - fabulous!
Tables were overflowing with tins, glassware, china and baskets full of knick-knacks, books and fabrics. Self-confessed vintage rummagers and collectors Yve Martin and Mark Horne were delighted with the paisley dress fabric they picked up from the H&A stand. The material had been featured in the December issue of Homes & Antiques.
Antiques dealer Malcolm Jackson, who trades at nearby Most Marvellous in Northampton, was bargain hunting and picked up this gorgeous seascape oil painting for a song.
Another savvy shopper, Wendy Shaw of Ticking Stripes, was carrying away some fabulous buys for a pop-up shop she’s opening soon at Lu-Lou’s in Sherwood, Nottingham.
It’s always lovely to meet readers, and even better to be able to offer them an irresistible subscription deal! Lampshade maker Maggie Betton had visited especially from Lincolnshire to look for fabrics and old papers. She went away a happy shopper and a newly signed up H&A subscriber.
Vicky Smart of The Nostalgic Kitchen, and mum Val Crofts, managed to squeeze in a quick cuppa even though the day was go, go go.
Neighbouring traders Suzanne Chopping of Hearts & Kisses and Claire Rocks, who sells 1950s-1980s kitchenalia and homewares, were happy with the day. ‘The jumble has been a great opportunity to have a good clearout,’ said Claire.
