Silver & Jewellery, Fieldings Auctioneers, Stourbridge, 10th December

In the January issue of Homes & Antiques, out on 7th December, our regular price guide feature looks at the glittering prizes found at recent silver auctions. If you want to buy some show-stoppers of your own, then this dazzling sale is for you.

Lots include cockerel cocktail sticks (£40-£60), pictured, an Arts and Crafts ladle (£100-£150) and a set of toast racks (£120-£180). There are also coins, medals and jewellery.

As we're in a flap about owls at the moment, we're rather drawn to the owl-shaped silver menu holders (£400-£450) and salt and pepper shakers (£150-£200), plus the Victorian novelty whistle modelled as, you've guessed it, an owl (£350-£400).
