Auction of the week

Art & Antiques Sale, Chorley's, Prinknash Abbey Park, Gloucestershire, 15th December

Ian Fleming first editions, needlework samplers and model boats will make original last-minute gifts at this sale. Plus, what could be better for entertaining guests in Downton Abbey-style than an Edwardian billiard table (£100-£150)? To do the job properly, there's also a revolving billiard cue stand (£300-£500) and a scoreboard (£800-£1,200) from the era, too.

Lots also include several silhouettes: there's a miniature of the three-feet tall, 19th-century street vendor John Millbank, who was known as the Cheltenham Muffin Man (£120-£150), and this charming portrait of three children (£800-£1,200), pictured. Find out just how collectable these miniature portraits are in our feature in the February issue of H&A, out 4th January.
