Specialist Books, Maps & Prints Sale, Cheffins, Cambridge, 29th February
Bookworms will be spoilt for choice at this sale of rare prints, maps and first edition books. From Milton’s Paradise Lost, illustrated by John Martin in two volumes from 1827 (£2,500-£3,500), to a signed and inscribed first edition of Wallis Simpson’s 1956 autobiography The Heart Has Its Reasons (£100-£200) this sale has something for literary lovers of all means and ages.
We’re huge Jane Austen fans and will be keeping a close eye on this three-volume first edition of her romantic novel Emma (£4,000-£6,000), pictured, which features an inscription dated 1869.
The sale also includes first editions of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Pigling Bland (£100-£150) and Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (£50-£80).
