This portrait, by British painter Meredith Frampton, of the former director of the Natural History Museum, eminent palaeontologist Dr Clive Forster-Cooper, with his personal collection of fossil vertebrates sold for £79,200 on Wednesday, more than 10 times its highest estimate of £5,000-7,000.
