Behind the scenes at H&A's ice cream photo shoot

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a shoot? Members of the Homes & Antiques team recently decamped to Morecambe Bay to photograph our lovely ice cream feature in front of the art deco Midland Hotel. Here's a taster of the day...

It may look bright and summery in this picture but the team had to contend with heavy grey cloud for most of the day.

Assistant decorating editor Kiera Buckley-Jones scoured the country for dealers and collectors who could loan pieces for the shoot, including sundae glasses and a wafer mould. Can you spot the BBC Homes & Antiques shopping bag?

Despite unpromising weather, photographer Nick Keane and art editor Lucette Yusef made the shots look delicious.

Kate Drummond of Sunset Ices, whose van was used as a location for many of the shots, whips up a damn fine 99. You'll find her parked on Morecambe's promenade outside the Midland Hotel during the summer months from Thursday-Sunday, noon-5pm (weather permitting!). See our story on Kate in the September issue, on sale 4th August.
