minor 'slip ups'

Just to clear up a few errors in last weeks roadshow Judith Miller gave the date of the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes as 1675, it is however 1685. Also a slip top spoon was dated to c.1440-50 however the earliest recorded slip top is generally accepted as 1487 (illustrated in How's three volume set).

I am from France and I would like to point out that we, the French, have always attached a lot of importance to religious freedom. “The Edict of Nantes”, issued in 1598, is a clear sign of that. As a result of this edict the Protestants started to enjoy better social and religious rights much to the chagrin of Catholics. Though it remained unaltered till 1686, Louis XIV decided to revoke the edict and his decision cost France badly. It is estimated that nearly 400,000 Protestants left France. The majority of them settled in Britain and Prussia.
