With our love of wartime nostalgia so strong, proved by the popularity of the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ mugs and bags, it comes as no surprise that a collection of World War II posters sold for far more than expected at a Wallis & Wallis sale in Sussex this week.
Each lot of about 10 prints had a price guide of up to £250 but instead made several times that.
A set of posters with the slogans ‘Back Them Up’, ‘Heavy Stirling’ and ‘Britain’s New Airborne Army goes into action’ was the highest selling lot, achieving £2,700.
The second half of the collection, saved from an old printing factory, goes on sale on 5th May. More auction listings
