An evening with Roadshow expert Lars Tharp
In ‘Pots, Power and Beauty: Porcelain & Desire in the Early Modern World’, Lars will examine ‘China Mania’ and look at the European waves of desire for these coveted ceramics. From 1300-1800, ceramics made in Jingdezhen, China’s porcelain capital in the south of the country, were sold around the world.
The evening, on 6th September, starts at 5.30pm at the Museum of East Asian Art for a special viewing of its exhibition ‘Chinese Ceramics and the Early Modern World’ (4th September-12th December), before moving to the Bath Guildhall for the lecture and wine reception at 7.30pm, with the opportunity to ask questions about the objects on display.
Tickets cost £7 but H&A readers can buy them for £5 – simply quote 'Homes & Antiques' when booking and print this page and show it at the door to obtain discounted entry.
