H&A to create living room for Festival of Britain anniversary celebrations
After the success of our 1950s living room at Vintage at Goodwood last summer, we’ve been set an even bigger challenge
Anyone who visited Vintage at Goodwood last August and popped into the H&A stand for a Tunnock’s Tea Cake and a good read will have seen the superb 1950s living room we created complete with Ercol sofa and Lucienne Day fabrics.
So impressed were festival organisers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway that they’ve asked H&A to put together a more permanent 1950s living room, this time for The Museum of 51 that they’re curating.
Part of the Southbank Centre’s 60th anniversary celebrations of the Festival of Britain (22nd April to 4th September), the museum will be in the Royal Festival Hall throughout the summer and is one of many attractions and events taking place. The Hemingways are also holding their Vintage festival at the site this year from 29th-31st July, at which H&A will again be appearing.
H&A stylist Kiera Buckley-Jones has been busy putting together mood boards, sketches and colour palettes for the room, which will explain how the Festival of Britain impacted on interior design and the way we live.
