Take a vintage tour
Let vintage experts take you back to 1951 with a journey exploring the lasting impact of the Festival of Britain
Who better to take you on a special trip down memory lane at Vintage at Southbank (29th-31st July) than London vintage guru Lena Weber, founder of The Vintage Guide to London?
Lena has teamed up with Margaret from Penny Dreadful Vintage to offer free daily vintage tours during the festivities (you don’t need to have a festival ticket).
They will transport visitors back to 1951 as they explore the Festival of Britain’s cultural context, architectural grandeur and long-term legacy. Find out how the festival site would have looked 60 years ago, hear anecdotes and personal memories about the festival and the Southbank site and discover its lasting influence on design and British culture.
The Vintage Tours will run twice daily at 11am and 2.30pm, starting at the riverside entrance to the Royal Festival Hall – next to Foyles. Numbers are limited to 30 people so arrive promptly.
The H&A team will be at the festival – come see us in the Vintage Village – and anyone attending the 2.30pm tour on Saturday 30th July will receive an H&A goodie bag containing our August vintage issue.
