New heritage show hits our screens
Flog It’s Paul Martin joins some familiar faces for a new show, Britain’s Hidden Heritage, which starts on BBC One on Sunday evening.
Did you know that Cragside House in Northumberland once boasted an astronomical observatory and scientific laboratory? Or that a submarine has been lying at the bottom of the Solent for the past century?
In a new three-part programme starting on BBC One on Sunday night (14th August) Flog It! presenter Paul Martin travels around the country looking for undiscovered treasures and forgotten places that tell us about the UK's rich and astonishing history.
Britain's Hidden Heritage kicks off with a visit to Dumfries House in Ayrshire where Prince Charles explains why he felt so passionately about saving the stately home and its astounding collection of Chippendale furniture.
As well as stately homes, the episodes take us to the historic Birmingham jewellery quarter and Lincoln Castle Prison, among other locations. Joining Paul along the way are well-known names such as Clare Balding, John Sergeant, Ann Widdecombe and Charlie Luxton.
Tune in on Sundays at 7pm on BBC One.
