Wemyss Ware, Lyon & Turnbull, Edinburgh, 16th August

A vast collection of original Wemyss Ware ceramics goes under the hammer this week, with lots ranging from traditional floral dishes and tea sets to delightful china animals.

Renowned for its intricately hand-painted designs, Wemyss Ware is one of the most sought-after styles of Scottish pottery, and the pieces command pretty steep prices at auction.

Aside from the delicate crockery, we couldn’t help but love this perplexed-looking little piglet, which is expected to sell for £1,000-£1,500.
