Fine Art & Antiques with 20th Century Decorative Arts, Chorley’s, Prinknash Abbey Park, Gloucestershire, 1st-2nd September

In the October issue of Homes & Antiques, we report on a rare 1750s cauliflower trompe l’oeil tureen that sold for a mighty £6,000. Pieces such as this don't come on the market very often but a whole fruit bowl of naturalistic crockery, which was designed as conversation pieces for wealthy 18th-century diners, comes up for sale in this two-day auction. Expect a couple of bunches of grapes to sell for a similar price to the brassica and two lemons to go for around £1,500. We love the rare Derby apple box, pictured, which is expected to bring a windfall of £2,000-£3,000.
