Relax mid afternoon in a re-covered deckchair with a book in hand and fresh lemonade.

Hold a party for friends and family by dragging a trestle table out into the garden and decorate with vintage linen, pressed glass tableware and accessorise with mismatched cushions. Party into the evening with tealights in old jam jars and fairy lights running alongside the bunting.

A good gardener makes sure nothing goes to waste. Collect logs and store them for winter in a large wicker basket. These drawers don't just have to be filled with apples - why not use them to store vintage fabric or your glossy magazines?

Transform a tired old chest of drawers by covering the fronts in floral chintz and decorate with flowers picked from the garden. This upcycled creation makes the perfect place to store seeds, garden tools and pots.

Create a romantic walkway with sculptural willow plant trainers, which add height and shape to a flat garden and look even more beautiful when climbers have twined around them.

Keep garden tools out of harm's way on a practical vintage shelf, complete with useful hooks. Old crates make for excellant storage solutions and a pretty blind creates a charming atmosphere.

When the heat of the summer gets too much, retreat into the shade in a glamorous tent piled high with classic novels to transport you back to days gone by.
