Celebrating its 10th anniversary, London Design Festival is back with a bang from 14th-23rd September, promising an inspiring mix of workshops, shows, talks and launches. Here's where we'll be heading...

Kensington
South Kensington is where patchwork textile company Squint Limited is opening its first store and launching a funky block velvet collection (pictured right) of hand-carved mahogany furniture covered in colourful luxurious woven fabric. While you’re in the area, ‘Out of the Woods’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum will show prototypes by Royal College of Art students who have been asked to produce a chair or seat in an American hardwood.

Central
We love the look of Contemporary Applied Arts’ selling exhibition ‘domesticMatters’, pictured top, which will see its Percy Street gallery transformed into the imagined home of a collector of Modernist furniture and 21st century craft. Makers’ work featured includes that of ceramicist Lubna Chowdhary and glassblowers Gillies Jones. For chic autumn style, check out the Heal’s collaboration with Welsh woollen mill Melin Tregwynt, pictured right, in the form of a collection of furniture and accessories at the Melin Tregwynt pop-up shop at Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road. Just around the corner on New Oxford Street you’ll find The Design Junction, another major festival venue. Look out for vintage furniture specialist twentytwentyone, which will be selling Artek’s ‘2nd Cycle’ products – classic Artek tables and chairs given a new lease of life. Refuel at Pop-Up Canteen – an eatery featuring original ceramic tiles and moquette seating fabric from the Underground.

Chelsea
Designers Max Lamb, Suzanne Trocmé and Emily Johnson will unveil their new collections of fine bone china under the title 1882 Ltd, the year Emily’s relatives the Johnson Brothers began producing pottery in Stoke-on-Trent. See them at Bamford on Draycott Avenue. Over at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the public day for Decorex International is on 25th September so you’ll be able to see the exciting designs that will be in our homes over the next year. And be among the first to see the new collections in showrooms at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, in its Focus/12 event on 26th September.
