Ceramics specialist Steven Moore has made a film about the collection of moulds at Middleport Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent

A beautiful, purpose-built Victorian pottery in Stoke-on-Trent is undergoing major restoration works, thanks to the Prince's Regeneration Trust which acquired the site and saved it from closure in 2009. Antiques Roadshow expert Steven Moore has been raising awareness for this ambitious project at Middleport Pottery, which has been making Burleighware ever since it opened its doors in 1889, and has made a film about the pottery's incredible collection of over 19,000 moulds that were found in an old store.

'In the film, we’ve tried to capture the atmosphere of the store, which is gloomy, dark and dusty,' says Steven. 'Making it was good fun.'

When finished, the pottery will have space for new businesses and a heritage centre as well as a public area to display some of the moulds. The factory shop remains open throughout the renovations, click here for details
