A colourful day of vintage and retro homeware shopping

Organised by the indefatigable Keeley Harris, The Vintage Home Show made its first visit to the west country last Sunday and set-up shop in Bristol’s creative quarter, the uber-cool Paintworks. With its red brick walls and industrial feel the airy event space provided a great backdrop to around 25 traders, including Kate Beavis of Your Vintage Life, selling all manner of quirky, kitsch, retro and vintage homewares.

The colourful phones, retro clocks and this lovely vintage Olivetti Lettera typewriter on the Retro Bazaar stand really caught my eye.

Charlotte Windsor and her mother Carol were also attracted to the Retro Bazaar stand and snapped up this large 1960s storage chest ‘I’ve just bought my first flat here in Bristol and am in the process of doing it up with a retro theme,‘ said Charlotte.

Another homemaker is Tracy French, who has recently bought a seaside cottage on the edge of Exmoor. ‘We’re in the process of re-decorating and this 1930/40s old school classroom poster will go perfectly,’ enthused Tracy.

This set of four 1960s chairs were snapped up by Sam Deane and Harris McQueen for £85 from Vintage Emporium and will be well on their way to their new home in London by now.

It’s always a joy to see Katy Boys and Bronia Hawkins, of Bath's Refound Reloved, selling their mix of cheerfully eclectic crockery, glassware, blankets and quilts. ‘Bristol is really becoming quite a hub for retro and vintage,’ they commented.

If you missed this event then do not fear, the next one will be on Sunday 3rd November (11am - 4pm). We'll also be at The Vintage Home Show in Manchester on 9th June (see below).
