Beautiful bed-head

I discovered this embroidery hidden away at the back of a drawer in my grandfather’s desk. How old is it and where do you think it was made? What is the best way to display and preserve it?

A What a very pretty piece of English metal-thread embroidery, which, judging by the shape, could have been intended for a bed-head. The different shades and design date it no earlier than 1780-1800.
If you want to keep it on display, have it mounted in a frame behind non-reflecting glass and hang it on a wall away from direct sunlight. If it’s double bed size, it’s worth £1,000-£1,500 but if single, £500-£800.
