Paradores Hotels, the easyJet Holidays website and Europcar have teamed up with Homes & Antiques to give readers the chance to win a seven-night holiday in Spain for two, worth £3,000. The winner will fly with easyJet, the only company to fly direct from London to Santiago. After three nights at the historic Parador Hostal dos Reis Católicos Santiago de Compostela, a scenic drive in a complimentary Europcar rental will transport the winner and their guest to the breathtaking Parador de Baiona on the Atlantic coast for a four-night sojourn.
The Galician capital of Santiago de Compostela is a UNESCO World Heritage City. As the final destination of a 1,000-year-old pilgrim route – the Way of St James – it has, since the 9th century, been a meeting place of holy significance. The winner will enjoy three nights in what is considered to be the jewel in the crown of the Parador portfolio: the Parador Hostal dos Reis Católicos in the city’s beautiful Praza do Obradoiro. This late 15th-century hostel is reputed to be the oldest hotel in the world and once served as a royal hospital to cater for the many pilgrims arriving there.
After the cultural enrichment of Santiago, part two of this fantastic prize takes place in the town of Baiona, a short boat trip from the national park of the Cíes Islands. This remote location boasts fantastic beaches – some of the finest in the world.
The winner will enjoy a stay at the four-star Parador de Baiona, a 16th-century fortress overlooking the town. The town claimed its place in history when it became the first place in the Old World to learn of the discovery of America from one of Columbus’s returning ships. Just a 15-minute walk from the Parador, Baiona is a small port town and a popular seaside resort with an atmospheric medieval quarter of narrow streets.
