Although National Garden Scheme has sadly had to close its gardens for the first time in its 93-year-history due to Coronavirus, it has announced today that a number of its beautiful gardens will remain open virtually in a scheme called 'Support our Gardens.'
Virtual garden visits, many of which will be filmed by their owners, will now be hosted on the National Garden Scheme website and delivered direct to subscribers' inboxes via a weekly newsletter. So now you can explore springtime blossom, unusual plants and beautifully manicured lawns from the comfort your sofa!
Mary Berry, President of the National Garden Scheme, says:
'Garden owners have recorded videos of their gardens to make a series of ‘virtualvisits’ and we are inviting everyone who might have visited a garden to watch a virtualvisitinstead and think of giving a donation to the charity.
I think it’s a fantastic idea, typical of the resourcefulness which has kept the National Garden Scheme going for over ninety yearsand Iurge you to support the campaign generously and enjoy the stunning gardens.'
