Rhiannon Batten

When she’s not wrangling her two small boys around the Somerset countryside Rhiannon Batten writes about design, travel and food. After a nomadic childhood she studied archaeology and anthropology at Oxford before joining the travel desk of the Independent newspaper as an editor and writer. After a decade living in Scotland - where she worked as a freelance features writer for publications including the Guardian, the Independent, ELLE and the Sunday Times, and helped to run an annual visual art and crafts event - Rhiannon moved south, eventually putting down roots in Somerset. An eight-year stint as travel editor of olive magazine deepened her interest in food but, more recently, she has found herself drawn back to stories centred on craft and heritage. A keen hiker and kayaker, she has a passion for ancient peoples, wild places, old houses and the overlooked curiosities of the UK.
