After several years of experimenting with car suspension systems, automotive engineer George Carwardine first patented his idea for a flexible task light in 1932. As springs were crucial to the design, Carwardine went into production with industrial spring manufacturer Herbert Terry & Sons and, just like that, Anglepoise – the iconic brand we know and admire today – was born.

The Type 80 is one of the company’s latest launches and comes in a choice of four striking colours – Matte Black, Rose Pink, Grey Mist and Pistachio. All Anglepoise products are now guaranteed for life when you register them, so you can rest easy knowing your lamp is protected.
