What could be nicer than sunshine, warm weather and stall after stall of covetable antiques? From antique Staffordshire dog figurines and collectable jelly moulds, to vintage chairs and French fabrics, there are myriad treasures to be found at your local antiques fair or flea market. And, as lockdown restrictions ease in Britain, we’ve rounded up some of the best antiques fairs and flea markets taking place around the UK (and online) this April.
When will antiques fairs be open again?
The British government roadmap out of lockdown explains that from 12th April 2021 non-essential retail will be open to the public, as will ‘most outdoor attractions and settings including outdoor hospitality venues, zoos, theme parks, and drive-in cinemas’. We anticipate that some antiques fairs and flea markets will go ahead as planned after 12th April 2021 (with increased safety and distancing measures), while others may delay opening until later on in the year. However, it is important to contact fair organisers or keep an eye on websites and social media for updates regarding these events as they could be cancelled or postponed at any time.
If your local antiques fair isn’t taking place this month, there are still plenty of other great antiques fair organisers to have on your radar for later on in the year. Plus an array of brilliant places to buy antiques online, on Instagram or at a local auction.

There will be hundreds of wonderful vintage things to buy, ranging from mid-century furniture to fashion. If you see something you like, contact the dealer with a direct message to buy or ask a question. Don’t forget, you can scroll back and pause to look at something in particular for longer. The fair is live for 24 hours so there is lots of time to call in and have a look. You can also click through to the trader’s profile to find more items they may have on offer.
How to shop: Browse all the stands on the Instagram feed a couple of days before the fair. How to shop: When the event opens at 10am on the Instagram account, the dealers will be introduced one post at a time.
