Cindy Mainwaring, who holds her monthly Seaside Brocante in Whitstable, Kent, marks 40 years of running antiques fairs this year. She will be celebrating at her brocante this Saturday, 17thNovember. This weekend’s event will also be her last for this year and therefore her Christmas fair so expect lots of festive goodies alongside vintage and antique homeware, furniture, fashion and textiles. Cindy, who turned 80 this year, began running fairs in Chelsea Town Hall in the 1970s under the title Cindy’s Chelsea Fair where buyers would find a mixture of bric-a-brac and antiques. She continued to run fairs when she moved to the seaside town of Whitstable 15 years ago and since then has always had a nautical flavour at her brocantes.
