Our October issue has landed!

Celebrate autumn with fresh decorating ideas, abundant orchards to visit, inside the V&A East Storehouse, collecting Whitby jet, the latest events, plus antiques imbued with stories of the uncanny and more!

With the arrival of a new season comes the natural urge to refresh our décor, and – luckily – the October issue of Homes & Antiques is brimming with inspiration to help you do just that.

- -

Kiera Buckley-Jones brings a wave of deep, dramatic inspiration for decorating with dark colours, while Ellie Tennant speaks to experts on the best ways to inject character back into period properties.

- -

The issue’s four homeowners are no strangers to daring design decisions, with maximalist prints, artful wallpapers and the most intricate hand-painted details. There’s, of course, also no shortage of antiques adding depth and character throughout.

- -

Our travels this month are quintessentially autumnal, as we explore six of the finest orchards across the UK in celebration of apple season’s bounty. Elsewhere, we wander the storied streets of historic east London with a review of 13 Princelet Street in Spitalfields, and discover the delights of Cheshire’s Nantwich.

- -

We also shine a light on the once-overlooked world of Polish mid-century design – innovative pieces created under the constraints of communist rule – before delving into the history of Whitby’s treasured gemstone, jet. And with October upon us, we embrace the season’s spookier side through antiques imbued with uncanny tales.

- -

As always, you’ll also find our round-up of auctions and antiques fairs across the UK and Northern Ireland, perfect for a weekend of treasure hunting closer to home.

Enjoy a peep at what to look forward to in our October issue!
